From Carrier Statement to Producer Payout,
Made Simple

CommissionScope is insurance commission management software that takes carrier commission statements through extraction, policy matching, producer split calculation, approval, and payout. CommissionScope handles the extraction, matching, and split math, so your team spends its time only on the lines that need judgment.

Step 1 and 2

Upload and Extract

CommissionScope reads carrier commission statements the way they arrive and turns them into structured commission lines.

  • Any statement format

Upload PDF, CSV, and Excel statements, including scanned PDFs. Batch upload handles a month of carriers at once, and each new carrier format is validated during your pilot before it drives payouts.

  • Document AI with confidence flags

Extraction pulls policy numbers, insured names, premiums, commission amounts, and dates from each line. Every field carries a confidence score, and low-confidence fields are flagged so your team can check them before calculation.

  • Corrections stay in your agency

Approved header and field-mapping corrections can be saved for your agency and reused on a later statement from that carrier. A saved correction does not auto-accept a policy match, and it does not leave your tenant.

Step 3

Match Lines to Policies

Commission reconciliation breaks on small differences: a dropped leading zero, a carrier prefix, a nickname. CommissionScope normalizes those differences for review and only auto-accepts an exact policy number.

  • Four matchers, one short list

Exact, normalized, fuzzy, and learned matchers each propose candidates with a confidence score. Normalization handles leading zeros, carrier prefixes, and separators while the original identifier stays visible on the line.

  • Only exact matches auto-accept

Exact policy numbers match automatically. Near-matches, like a dropped zero or a carrier prefix, come with the evidence your team needs to accept them.

  • Manual match with provenance

Reviewers can match a line by hand, and CommissionScope records who matched it and why. If the policy is missing, the reviewer can search the book or add the policy. The line stays unmatched until a person accepts it.

Step 4

Calculate Producer Splits

Producer commission splits are configured once as commission programs and applied the same way every statement. The math has to balance before a calculation is saved.

  • Commission programs

Model percentage, tiered, carrier-specific, and producer-specific commission programs with effective dates. Precedence rules decide which program wins when more than one could apply.

  • Producer rates and hierarchies

Dated producer rate overrides change a rate from a given date without rewriting history. Multi-producer splits and producer hierarchies allocate one commission line across the people who earned it.

  • Math that has to balance

Before a calculation is saved, CommissionScope checks that the house share and every producer share add up to the statement line. Chargebacks and adjustments stay visible as negative lines through approval and payout.

Step 5 and 6

Approve and Pay

Commissions are calculated, balanced, and ready. Approve the batch and export the files your payroll or check process already uses.

  • Ready to approve

Calculated commissions arrive with chargebacks included and producer and house shares balanced, so approving a batch is a check, not a rebuild.

  • Payout batch outputs

Approved batches export as CSV for payroll or accounting and as branded PDF statements carrying your agency logo, batch number, period, and producer totals.

  • Payment safeguards

Live ACH and NACHA transmission is disabled by design, so CommissionScope never moves money. Changes to a producer’s bank details wait 72 hours before they take effect.

Across every step

Track and Report

Every match, calculation, and approval is recorded with who did it and when. Standard exports give accounting and leadership the same numbers operations approved.

  • Audit trail

CommissionScope logs uploads, matches, corrections, calculations, approvals, and payout exports with the user and timestamp, so a producer question months later has an answer.

  • Standard exports

Payout summaries, commission detail, unmatched lines, and audit evidence export as CSV and PDF. These are the launch-ready reports every pilot produces.

  • Commission matrix

A producer-by-line-of-business matrix shows where commission revenue comes from. Custom report building and scheduled delivery are not included in the pilot.

Working with your systems

Integrations and Access

CommissionScope runs in the browser and moves data by CSV today. Direct system connections are scoped as projects so they are tested against your data, not assumed.

  • CSV in, CSV out

Import policies, producers, and commission history by CSV with a guided column mapper. Export commissions and payouts the same way for accounting.

  • AMS and accounting data

CommissionScope ingests an EZLynx report export automatically. We help you set up the report, and each policy has a link that opens it in EZLynx by policy number. It is not a live sync. Other agency management systems come in through CSV import. Direct AMS sync and accounting sync are custom projects, scoped per agency.

  • Sign-in and where you work

Sign-in is email and password, a Microsoft work account, Google, or a magic link. Accounts can require a second factor. A Microsoft sign-in matches an existing user and does not create an account. Roles decide who sees what. CommissionScope is responsive on phones and tablets; there is no native mobile app.

What is not self-service today

These capabilities exist in CommissionScope or in Port & Starboard's services, but they are set up with you rather than switched on from a settings page. We say so here so a pilot never starts with the wrong expectation.

  • API access, granted by request for a scoped integration
  • Webhooks, configured as part of an integration project
  • Direct AMS, QuickBooks, or data-lake connections
  • Support-managed standard reporting exports
  • Producer self-service portal access
  • Pricing, plan changes, and invoicing
